BHS Receives ASPCA Grant

Great River Rescue Receives ASPCA Grant
$4,000 Grant will be used for enhanced shelter software and preventative care medicines
Bemidji, MN — Great River Rescue today announced having received a $4,000 grant from the ASPCA. The grant monies will be divided among two programs, $3,000 for preventative care medical supplies, and $1,000 for enhanced shelter data management software.
“So many pets in our area are afflicted with diseases carried by fleas and ticks,” said Brandon Mustful, Executive Director. “This grant will help us combat that pervasive problem and provide the highest quality care possible for our pets.”
The majority of the grant funding will be used to purchase flea/tick preventative medicines for dogs and cats. These medicines protect the shelter pets from parasites which can be carried by fleas/ticks and other biting insects and mites. Additionally, some of the grant funding will be used to purchase new, more advanced shelter data management software. The new program will allow better tracking, and reporting of shelter data which will help shelter staff and Board members get a better picture of things happening at the shelter and in the community, and respond accordingly.
