Adoptions By Appointment Only

Great River Rescue Updates COVID-19 Related Procedures

Procedural Changes Related to an Uptick in Cases in Beltrami County

Effective Tuesday, July 21, Great River Rescue will once again be allowing visits at its facility by appointment only. The change comes after an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county based on Minnesota Department of Health Data. The shelter will continue to operate by taking in stray and surrendered dogs and cats, and place them up for adoption. However, clients will need to submit an application to adopt and schedule an appointment before visiting the shelter. The shelter was operating under these conditions previously, and will return to them to protect the health and safety of shelter staff and visitors. The adoption of shelter pets remained steady during the previous period of visits by appointment only, and should continue even with an increase in COVID-19 cases. Visitors will be expected to be symptom free when visiting, and must sanitize their hands upon entry, and respect social distancing guidelines. Clients are also asked to wear a face covering.
