Great River Rescue Virtual Lessons
Great River Rescue Virtual Lessons
Brought to you by the Great River Rescue Community Education Committee – Eric Sundem, Barb Godding, Angie Fournier, Casey Kiehne, Ethan Larson, and Brandon Mustful
For the past several summers, Great River Rescue offered a summer day camp for kids. These camps gave kids an interactive learning experience around pets and wildlife. Because of the public health crisis, we were not able to plan and offer a summer day camp this year, but we still want to reach kids with important educational material. Therefore, we have created five lessons for elementary aged kids that focus on communicating with dogs and cats, and being a responsible pet owner. Some lessons are short, while some are longer, and they are all followed by a quiz. We invite kids from Bemidji, and all over to watch the lessons and complete the quizzes by the end of the summer. Kids that complete all five lessons will earn a special Great River Rescue certificate showing what they’ve learned.
Parents – Did you know that 77% of dog bites come from a family or friend’s dog (https://www.thefamilydog.com/stop-the-77/)? These lessons are designed to help you kids learn how to be safe around pets. Please consider watching them with your kids to keep them and your family safe and healthy.
