You make our lifesaving work possible
Thank you for being with us again in 2022. Much like the past few years, 2022 presented a lot of unique challenges. Across the country adoption demand has been down, while the need for rehoming services has increased. This reality has been coupled with a shortage in veterinary services, and huge spay/neuter gap. Add on top of all of that, inflation, supply chain disruptions, and a workforce shortage. Whew! That’s a lot to deal with all at once.
Despite the challenges listed above, Great River Rescue remains a strong, healthy organization. That vibrance can be credited mainly to you; our supportive community. In 2022, we had an amazing 850 donors – up 11% from 2021, and 19% from 2020! We know that all of you faced big challenges in the past few years too, and yet you have continued make generosity a priority. Thank you!
In addition to your donation support, we have maintained an active adoption program, producing 342 adoptions in 2022 which is up nearly 14% from 2021. We also worked through our third year of running our low-cost spay/neuter program Pet Fixers, which achieved 664 spay/neuter surgeries along with hundreds of preventative care treatments.
Looking forward, we are in the process of renewing our current strategic plan. We are trying to determine how we can be successful in the long-term without such a strong reliance on donor funds, among other issues. Of primary importance this year will be getting more people involved in our work. While your financial support is wonderful and very much appreciated, we want to give you opportunities to directly serve the animals and our community through GRR.
