Great River Rescue Receives Several Recent Grants

Each year Great River Rescue depends on community support and grant funding to continue working to save the lives of shelter pets. Recently, the organization has been pleased to receive FIVE grant awards as a result of several grant requests made during 2017. The awards range from cash for general operating, veterinary, and spay/neuter expenses, to equipment to improve shelter operations. The grants received include:

  • $5000 in veterinary care funding from a Foundation that will remain anonymous
  • $2500 in spay/neuter funding from the Bissell Pet Foundation
  • $1000 in general operating funds from the Pedigree Foundation
  • $500 in funding for the purchase of a special cat tower from Beltrami Electric’s Operation Round-up
  • A universal microchip scanner from AKC Reunite

“These grants are vital to the work we do at Great River Rescue,” said Executive Director Brandon Mustful. “Only a small percentage of our budget comes through grants, but they make a big impact.”

Great River Rescue typically writes between 10 – 15 grant requests per year. Some are sent to national foundations focused on assisting shelters, while others go to local organizations seeking to benefit nonprofit organizations in our community. On average, about 10% of Great River Rescue’s annual budget come from grant funding.
